NYSEG Leadership Bolsters Relationships with Key Upstate Businesses
Executive-to-executive visits give NYSEG officials insight into business challenges and how Company can assist
Recent visit to Corning strengthened relationship between two companies
BINGHAMTON, NY — November 26, 2024 — New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG) senior leadership is conducting site visits with its key accounts across Upstate New York to work with businesses on how the Company can be a partner to their success. At a recent executive-to-executive visit to Corning Incorporated, NYSEG President and CEO Trish Nilsen met with Corning DVP and Chief Procurement Officer Nolan Smith to discuss grant opportunities, how reliability affects Corning’s operations, and upcoming projects.
“Touring Corning’s impressive manufacturing facility was an opportunity for me to see firsthand how the electric and natural gas service we provide enables the company to bring its scientific and manufacturing expertise to bear in the global marketplace,” said Trish Nilsen, president and CEO of NYSEG and Rochester Gas and Electric. “When our key business partners tell us their story, it helps us be better partners in providing the vital service they need to get the job done.”
This partnership ensures large companies have the electric and natural gas capacity they need to do business in Upstate New York – a greater challenge than may be apparent from the outside looking in. While NYSEG is working on widescale projects to upgrade transmission lines, poles, and substations to increase reliability and enable the energy grid to handle the increased electric demands of both legislative changes and new business, understanding the unique challenges these high tech companies face is essential to planning those improvements effectively.
“It was a pleasure to host NYSEG at our global headquarters in Corning,” said Smith. “The continued partnership between NYSEG and Corning is essential to providing safe and reliable energy for our company and our community here in the Corning Valley.”
Working with industry is a important component of NYSEG’s overall mission to provide safe and reliable energy to Upstate New York. As demands on the energy grid becoming increasingly complex and vital to our way of life, being a good partner to the businesses that keep New Yorkers employed and the economy strong is essential to the goals of the Company.
