NYSEG Hosting Smart Meter Open Houses in Western New York This Week
Part of NYSEG’s continued work to bring smart meters to all customers; reduce estimated billing
LANCASTER, N.Y. — November 14, 2023 — New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG) customers in its Lancaster division, which includes portions of Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie and Wyoming counties, are having their meters upgraded to smart meters in the next year. The Company will host informational open houses to provide residents, business owners, and municipal officials with information about the upcoming installations, timeline, and customer benefits. There is no formal presentation. Customers are invited to come at any time during the event and talk to project representatives about smart meter installations.

All residential and most business customers in NYSEG’s service areas will receive the new electric standard smart meter. Informational displays and NYSEG representatives will be available to share more details about the installation process, answer questions and demonstrate how smart meters will provide customers with more convenience, control, and expanding choice in understanding and managing their energy use.
NYSEG expects to complete smart meter installations at the end of 2024 for this area. Customers will receive more information before smart meter upgrades begin in their neighborhood.
