NYSEG Hosting Smart Meter Open Houses in Auburn and Geneva This Week
Company to host informational open houses for customers to learn about the ongoing installation of smart meters
NYSEG continues work to bring smart meters and reduce estimated billing for customers
BINGHAMTON, N.Y — December 9, 2024 — New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG) customers in the Auburn Division, which includes Cayuga and Onondaga counties, and customers in the Geneva Division, which includes Ontario, Wayne, Seneca and Yates counties are having their meters upgraded to smart meters.
The Company will host two informational open houses on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, in Auburn and Wednesday, December 11, 2024, in Geneva to provide residents, business owners, and municipal officials with information about installations, including the scope of work, timeline, and customer benefits.
There is no formal presentation. Customers are invited to come at any time during the event and talk to project representatives about smart meter installations.

Registration for the open houses is not required and all are welcome.
All residential and most business customers in NYSEG service areas will receive the new electric smart meter and/or natural gas module. Informational displays and NYSEG representatives will be available to share more details about the installation process, answer questions and demonstrate how smart meters will provide customers with benefits such as bills based on actual energy use, faster outage detection and better understanding of their energy usage.
NYSEG expects to complete smart meter installations in 2025 for this area. Customers will receive information before installations begin in their neighborhood.
