Event for customers to learn about smart meters

Part of NYSEG’s work to bring smart meters to all customers; reduce estimated billing

ELMIRA, NY — August 16, 2024 — New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG) customers in its Elmira division, which includes portions of Chemung, Schuyler and Steuben Counties, are having their meters upgraded to smart meters. The Company will host an informational open house on Monday, August 19 to provide residents, business owners, and municipal officials with information about installations, including the scope of work, timeline, and customer benefits.

There is no formal presentation. Customers are invited to come at any time during the event and talk to project representatives about smart meter installations.

Monday, August 19
Elks Lodge

300 East Gray Street
Elmira, NY 14901

4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Registration for the open house is not required and all are welcome.

All residential and most business customers in NYSEG’s service areas will receive the new electric smart meter and/or natural gas module. Informational displays and NYSEG representatives will be available at the event to share more details about the installation process, answer questions, and demonstrate how smart meters will provide customers with benefits such as bills based on actual energy use, faster outage detection, and better understanding of their energy usage.

NYSEG expects to complete smart meter installations in 2025 for this area. Customers will receive information about their installation before they begin in their neighborhood.
