NYSEG and RG&E Continue to Engage Community in 2025

Companies held 13 outreach events to general public and elected officials so far in 2025

Additional events currently planned through July

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — April 4, 2025 — New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG) and Rochester Gas and Electric (RG&E) are highlighting their proactive efforts to engage the community at more than a dozen events so far in the first quarter of 2025. These events are intended to educate customers, elected officials, stakeholders, and other interested parties about the Companies' activities on a wide range of topics.

"It's imperative for our team to connect with people where they live," said Dave Gridley, NYSEG and RG&E's director of Municipal, Community, and Business Relations. "Our goal is to be transparent partners in the communities that rely on our service. By reaching out in person, we ensure our customers are educated on topics including their bill, energy consumption habits, smart meters, the need to invest in infrastructure, and other matters that play a critical role in their everyday lives." NYSEG and RG&E serve more than 1.8 million customers across 40 percent of Upstate New York.

Through March, the Companies have held 13 events in 10 counties, which were attended by more than 800 people. These events include dedicated community connection events, community leaders meetings, summits, clinics, legislature meetings, and smart meter open houses. NYSEG and RG&E presented both formally and informally on a wide range of topics including winter bills, smart meters, supply pricing, energy efficiency, day/night meters, HEAP and other programs for low-income households, capacity, and other relevant topics.

As part of the ongoing efforts to be transparent community partners, NYSEG and RG&E are planning several additional events through July, including smart meter open houses, community connection events, community leaders meetings, and other gatherings.
