NYSEG and RG&E strengthen communities with philanthropic efforts
By giving back, NYSEG and RG&E help local organizations, low-income families, veterans, youth development, and other community needs
BINGHAMTON, NY — January 28, 2025 — New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG), Rochester Gas and Electric (RG&E), and Avangrid are committed to giving back to the communities they serve. In 2024, the companies supported 100 organizations with more than $700,000, plus additional contributions thanks to volunteering hours from team members.
“Community engagement is at the center of who we are,” said Dave Gridley, director of municipal, community, and business relations for NYSEG and RG&E. “Our team prides itself on advancing our goals of the communities we live in. Whether it’s through taking time out of their day to help their favorite charity, direct donations, or simply raising awareness, we remain committed to being good community partners into 2025 and beyond.”
Together, NYSEG and RG&E directly provided more than $700,000 to local organizations in 2024. Significant donations were made to dozens of organizations that support low income customers. Additionally, the companies gave back to several organizations that support family and community services, health programs, persons with disabilities, veterans, workforce development, youth development, and organizations that champion inclusion, equity, and diversity.
NYSEG and RG&E proudly encourages employees to volunteer their time in the community through the Companies “Energized for Good” volunteer rewards program. Through this initiative, the Avangrid Foundation makes a $15 donation for each hour employees volunteer with qualifying organizations, up to 100 hours per employee. In 2024, the Companies combined for over 14,300 volunteer hours to support local communities, generating over $145,000 in additional contributions through the program to local nonprofits.
NYSEG and RG&E are not only committed to customer service and infrastructure improvements, but the Companies continue to have a steady presence in the communities they serve to help their neighbors thrive.
