Smart meter installation

Our standard electric smart meter and natural gas meter modules have been installed across our service area. Learn what to expect if we haven't reached your area yet.

What can I expect for my smart meter installation?

When we arrive, our installer will knock before beginning the upgrade. Our installers carry green or yellow ID badges, and their vehicles are marked with our logos.

Installation takes just minutes, and you may experience a brief interruption in your power. If your meter is located outside and is accessible, you do not need to be present or do anything to prepare for our visit. We’ll confirm your successful installation by leaving a door hanger the day we upgrade your meter. If we can’t gain access to your meter for any reason, we’ll leave behind contact information so you can make an appointment to have it exchanged at a time that’s convenient for you.

If we missed you during our visit and we need access to upgrade your meter, please contact us so we can schedule a convenient appointment. Your door hanger will include our contact information. You can reach our team at 800.572.1111 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday. 

You can also check out our FAQ and smart meter resources if you have questions. If you are a residential customer and do not wish to have your meter upgraded at this time, please contact us. There will be a monthly opt-out fee, currently $13.47, after we complete upgrades in your neighborhood. Smart meter upgrades are required for business customers.
