NYSEG's Residential Natural Gas Equipment Rebate Program for High-Efficiency Natural Gas Equipment and Duct Sealing
Special message to NYSEG customers: Thanks to overwhelming customer response, NYSEG’s Residential Natural Gas Equipment Rebate program met state funding and energy savings targets in early 2010. As a result, NYSEG is only be able to accept completed applications (accompanied by paid receipts) postmarked on or before March 31, 2010.
In a notice filed with the NYS Public Service Commission (PSC), NYSEG has indicated that the company is very receptive to continuing or reopening the program.

To be eligible, furnaces and boilers had to be Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) or Energy STAR® approved. To determine if yourequipment qualified, customers were advised to view the AHRI and Energy STAR® Web sites.

NYSEG/RG&E residential natural gas customers could receive a rebate on duct sealing when they bought and installed a qualifying high-efficiency natural gas furnace. The work had to be completed on or after July 1, 2009 by a qualified contractor* and done at the same time as a qualifying furnace replacement. The duct sealing rebate applied only to duct systems located in entirely unconditioned spaces such as unheated basements, garages, crawl spaces or attics.
*A licensed contractor or a contractor with a federal ID number or a Certificate of Insurance.
