NYSEG and RG&E Making Great Progress Following Severe and Widespread Storm Damage
Rochester, NY — March 11, 2017 — NYSEG and RG&E, subsidiaries of AVANGRID Inc. (NYSE: AGR), continue to make progress following the significant wind storm on Wednesday. So far, approximately 70% of customers affected by the storm have been restored. Crews have been working around the clock responding to more than 4,000 downed wires across both companies.
NYSEG will have the majority of remaining customers restored by 11 p.m. tonight. RG&E will have the vast majority (more than 90%) of customers affected by the storm restored by midnight Sunday. The storm damage resulted in more than 201,000 outages involving both homes and businesses.
Since the storm, nearly 4,000 additional customers have lost power. Crews have been working through the night to respond to those additional outages.
