Rochester, NY – NYSEG has restored more than 88,000 of the 93,000 services interrupted* as a result of Thursday evening’s violent storm and tornado that caused extensive and widespread damage in NYSEG’s Elmira, Binghamton, Liberty and Brewster service areas. Approximately 3,600 services are currently interrupted in NYSEG’s Elmira Division. (*The number of total service interruptions includes services that may have been interrupted more than once.)

NYSEG expects to complete more than 95% of its service restoration work in the Elmira Division by midnight tonight.

A destructive mid-day thunderstorm yesterday caused additional outages in NYSEG’s Liberty Division (parts of Sullivan, Orange, Delaware and Ulster Counties), and another lightning-related outage occurred at about 4 a.m. today, interrupting another 1,400 customers in the Swan Lake area. Currently, approximately 3,100 services are interrupted in the Liberty Division. Despite the additional 4,500 customer outages since the initial storm, restoration is still expected by late today.

Restoration times for each outage are available at http://www.nyseg.com/Outages/default.html or 1.800.572.1131.
