NYSEG WRAPPING UP POWER RESTORATION WORK

Brewster, NY, March 1, 2010 (9 p.m.) – Crews from NYSEG, Rochester Gas and Electric (RG&E), electrical contractors and tree contractors are completing power restoration efforts for the last 30 NYSEG customers who had service interrupted across Dutchess, Putnam and Westchester counties as a result of Thursday night’s devastating winter storm. NYSEG anticipates that all customers who do not have power will have service restored tonight.

Any NYSEG customer who does not have power is asked to contact the company at 1-800-572-1131.

All told, the storm caused more than 45,000 interruptions in NYSEG’s Brewster Division with some customers’ service being interrupted more than once.


John Wittmann III, NYSEG’s manager of regional operations, attributed the speed of the restoration effort to the response of local crews and the very quick mobilization of support from utility crews from other areas.


“We appreciate our customers’ patience and understanding while we went about our work, and we would also like to thank the highway departments, volunteer firefighters and everyone else who assisted in our restoration efforts,” Wittmann said.
